RUBRINGS MATERIAL GUIDE

HNBR O-rings.
Heat & mechanical duty.

A nitrile-based family to consider when heat, ozone exposure and mechanical duty matter.

Start with the application.

HNBR is hydrogenated nitrile rubber. It is often considered where improved heat and ozone resistance are needed alongside oil resistance. Suitability still depends on formulation and service conditions.

What to verify

Verify the exact fluid, compound grade and operating temperature. Do not assume that every HNBR compound is suitable for every fuel, refrigerant or hydraulic fluid.

Specify more than the polymer

Record dimensions, compound identification, hardness, tolerances, working conditions and quantity. Ask for a grade-specific datasheet before design approval.

Temperature and pressure are application-specific.

General polymer guidance is not a guaranteed rating for a finished O-ring. Validate performance in the intended assembly.

Dimensions and standards

Give the inside diameter and cross-section with units. If using a standard size, include its exact designation and applicable revision. Confirm dimensional tolerances against your drawing.
